Leeann has worked as both an office assistant and volunteer with Exceptional Adventures. On top of that, she’s been an Exceptional Adventures traveler for more than a decade. Leeann is fun to work with and easy to like. So, when the opportunity arose to make her dream come true, it was a welcome task.
Along with her connection to Exceptional Adventures, Leeann receives residential and community-based support from Citizen Care. When Exceptional Adventures announced it was planning a trip to Punta Cana a few years back, Leeann wanted to go. Unfortunately, she could not afford the trip.
Fortunately, Exceptional Adventures was able to use some money from the Citizen Care Dream Fund to make Leeann’s trip a reality. The Dream Fund helps turn possibilities like these into reality.
“I was excited,” remembered Leeann, upon hearing the news. Her first thought: “I have to start packing.”
The trip to Punta Cana provided Leeann with lasting memories. Her week included being part of a dance show, getting her hair braided on the beach, shopping for jewelry and clothing, a circus with a magic act, and trying exotic foods such as snails and goat. She claims that “it tastes like chicken.”
There were two things that really stood out for Leeann. The first was an excursion to Monkeyland, where she fed monkeys apples and sunflower seeds. Said Leeann: “It was really cool because one was trying to climb on top of my head.”
The other – described by Leeann as her favorite part of the trip – was a fancy photoshoot on the beach for Leeann and the other Exceptional Adventures guests. “I liked getting dressed up; it made me feel happy and beautiful,” she said.
Exceptional Adventures loves creating lasting memories for our guests – and when we can make a travel dream come true, it’s even more meaningful.
